ABOUT MILE END

Mile End Deli started serving Montreal-style Jewish deli food in Brooklyn, NY in 2010 modeled after the traditional recipes that co-founder Joel Tietolman grew up eating. Updating traditional dishes and focusing on fresh ingredients and from-scratch techniques, Mile End has now expanded to the South with The Pihakis Restaurant Group. The menus feature oven-fired bagels, signature smoked meats, homemade hotdogs, poutine, and fresh whitefish salad.

JOEL TIETOLMAN

Joel Tietolman was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and has always had a strong connection, respect, and love for Jewish food. In what would become a defining moment in his career path, Joel hopped into New York’s food scene by schlepping bagels to the city from Montreal’s famed Saint-ViateurBagel Shop. Each week, he’d make an overnight trip with more than 100 dozen bagels to be sold in the Big Apple. In a city that boasts many great delis, Joel saw an opportunity to bring a different style to the masses and opened his first Brooklyn location to great acclaim offering him the opportunity to expand and present his unique style to a larger audience.
